In the fall of 2018 David took a drive to what is now the entrance to the David Ogrin Golf Academy and drove back to see the old Rivercity Range which had been built in 2010.  Rivercity had been closed about a year and when he saw the landlord of the property had kept the tee line weed free, David began the process of reopening the facility.  David got that accomplished and on May 29, 2019 the David Ogrin Golf Academy opened and has become New Braunfels’ place to learn and practice golf.

Besides being an accomplished player on tour David opened the David Ogrin Golf Academy after two years as the Alamo City Golf Trail Director of Instruction, and two years as the Director of Instruction at Topgolf San Antonio where he created and ran the instructional elements of Topgolf San Antonio.

Previously to that he coached one year of college golf at Texas Lutheran University as assistant to HC Tran. Before that David was the Director of Instruction at Three Crowns Golf Club in Casper, Wyoming where he created a seasonal golf program from scratch. David has also served as Director of Instruction at Rivercity Range (now david Ogrin Golf Academy) in New Braunfels, and as General Manager at Maverick Golf Club in Floresville, Texas and Packsaddle Golf Club in Kingsland Texas.  Along the way David is an active member of the Proponent Group and association of the nation’s top golf instructors as well as two years as a member of the Golf Channel Academy. Golf Digest named David one of the Top Teachers in Texas in 2022.

David is a graduate of the Vision54 Golf Coach of the Future program, a Certified Fluid Motion Factor Instructor, and Certified Putting Zone Instructor. David is certified to run Operation36 the leading developmental program in America and Birdie Basics which is golf for children ages 3-6. David is also a Life Member / Past Champion of the PGA Tour, and Life Member of the PGA of America.

After his playing career David has set out to become a leader in golf development from the beginner stage all the way through professional golf. He uses many great programs such as SNAG, Deane Beman’s 6/90, Real Golf by Joe Bosco, DECADE by Scott Fawcett, and igrowgolf. His passion is in the development of the whole golfer and uses the materials of Vision54, Operation36, and Chuck Hogan. Playing lessons are the foundation of great learning and that is where David’s heart is.

David Ogrin graduated from Texas A&M University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He is married to Sharon Edwards Ogrin and they have four children and three grandchildren. David and wife family live in New Braunfels, Texas and attend New Braunfels Bible Church weekly and Wurstfest annually.

Wow!

Amazing experience. I went into this with trepidation and no hope, and left completely the opposite. My short game fear was debilitating before and now, I trust Coach Ogrin's roadmap to enjoying this game again. 10 stars.

Great Guy!

Davis is a great teaching professional. He was quickly able to identify where I was struggling and offer easy to follow instruction on how to correct my flaws. And BTW, he’s also a really great guy.
